The Most Effective Way to Improve Self-Confidence
Apr 04, 2023At 18, being me is complicated. I don't like my body. I can't seem to do anything right. I never appreciate the good things and always overemphasize the bad.
Once, in high school, I tried to give a speech. One look at the audience, and I bolted. Later I heard rumors that people thought I was pregnant, and that's why I ran.
I wasn't—pregnant. I ran because I had zero self-confidence. I felt like a loser all the time. I hated myself and my life.
Over the years, I tried different ways to improve my self-confidence. I tested positive thinking, being kind to myself, and goal setting. In my 40s, I joined Toastmasters because someone said the best way to gain self-confidence is to do what you fear.
It didn't help. I shook as severely as I did in high school, trying to give that Toastmasters speech. After the event, I still thought of myself and my life negatively. Giving a speech didn't cure my perfectionism or fear of the future.
I thought being outgoing might help me feel more self-confident, so I pretended to be someone I was not. I became gregarious and chatty at social events, thanks to the help of a few drinks.
I thought studying self-help texts would make me feel better, but that didn't work either. However, it did drain my bank account, which made me feel even worse.
I tried a million things and failed a million times. I felt a million times worse than I did before I tried to make it better.
When I started honing my intuition, my goal was not to increase self-confidence. I'm not even really sure I had a result in mind. I ended up on this path because I'd given my power away to a popular self-help guru and ended up penniless and hopeless. Not quite the result one imagines when one signs up for a spiritual self-help program.
Fast forward to the surprising effect of honing your intuition: increased self-confidence.
If you want the most effective and fastest way to increase self-confidence, hone your intuition. Practice hearing, trusting, and following it daily.
Why does this work so well? Because your intuition is an innate part of you! When you learn how your intuition connects with you and use it to improve all aspects of your life experience, you naturally align with the unconditionally loving part of you.
Alignment is where you shift to a more expanded energy—equal to that part of you that exists in an infinite, loving space.
When you align, you feel. When you feel, you believe.
This reality is based on beliefs, and what you believe is real, you feel. Feelings convince you of what's real. You think and act according to how you feel.
Once you feel your worthiness, you don't forget. The more you trust your intuition, the more you automatically find yourself in alignment. The more you FEEL the presence of your unconditionally loving spirit, the more it becomes natural and normal to be confident in yourself and your journey.
Honing your intuition is one of the only ways to increase self-confidence that isn't based on external results. Intuition has nothing to do with listening to outside advice or changing aspects of yourself that you or others feel should be different.
Intuition is based on love, so it loves you unconditionally. Intuition never asks you to be different and never berates you for not taking its advice. It just keeps offering solutions no matter what.
The unconditional nature of intuitive love is one of the reasons why you naturally build self-confidence when you engage with it. Do this repeatedly, and you'll find yourself in a place of calm confidence regarding all aspects of life.
